Charged both to pretty full prior to use.
Using it now to clear extra drainage paths taking swipes through drifts starting at the top. Can't handle snowplowed snow at all. Not expecting it to handle 'old' snow. Nice design overall for clearing channels.
Tested initially on a driveway and sidewalk with 3-4 inches of packy (snowman) snow and had to push, pull back, push (easy to do and didn't have to lift snow at edges). Was able to clear driveway and sidewalk with a bit of snow left on both in about an hour. Threw about 10-14 feet (with the help of the wind). If you don't want to lift the snow at the edges, the tradeoff is patience with less width and limited capacity. (Standard shovel clears best to pavement - snowblower clears best for volume and better to pavement - was still snowing and blowing when finished a first pass.)
If you can use it working with the wind, the sidewalks are easy. Throws snow forward so helps if the wind picks it up and puts it in the snowbanks - otherwise you need to use it sort of sideways.
Two batteries did about one hours work and could have done just a bit more (thinking maybe 15-20 minutes more).
Read that batteries (after use) should be stored at 2 full bars out of 3 (if 3 is full) (versus topped off) and recharged about every 6 months if in storage to get the longest use out of them.
Don't expect it to work on slush. Don't expect it to work on any packed snow or ice chunks and avoid areas with sticks. It doesn't clear fully to pavement which isn't a big deal when clearing drainage channels in grassy areas where a person might finish clearing the area with a standard shovel anyway.
Biggest values so far ... moving some (fresh) snow weight to different quite distant areas so it didn't have to be lifted while limiting the development of extra snowbanks around the drainage channels. And, clearing/moving some snow in areas where a snowblower can't easily be used.
Then to top it off, less than 8 weeks after purchasing (of course a few weeks past the Amazon return window), and after only using a handful of times, it just suddenly stopped working. I chatted with tech support to try and solve the problem, and very early on in the process they determined that it just didn't work at all anymore. They said they could send a replacement (still not sure if they meant part or the whole unit?), but that it was currently out of stock, so I'd have to sit tight until it came back in stock. This of course all happened the day before a massive two-day snow storm hits our area. So I said that a down-the-road replacement doesn't help me now and that I was already unsatisfied with the product and wanted a refund. They offered store credit, which of course I also pushed back on since I certainly didn't want another one of these and wasn't too confident in the quality of any of their other products after this experience. Surprisingly, they did immediately offer a total refund by check, but that I'd have to send the unit back before they process the order, although they said they'd send me a return label. And of course the unit is big and bulky and I just threw out the boxes it came in the other day, so now I need to find an appropriate size box somewhere to pack it up and send it back. We'll see if I actually ever get a refund, although the tech support person was very nice and helpful as best they could be given the situation, I guess.
Bottom line is that I thought this thing looked too good to be true, but the plethora of rave reviews caused me to overrule my instincts. I'll do my best to not let that happen again. I'd recommend paying a bit more and investing in a full-blown electric snow blower (that's what I'll be doing, anyway).
